Marine Diesel Emissions & Fuel Efficiency

Combustion improvement for ferries, workboats, tugs, pilot boats, auxiliaries and generators.

Marine engines face heavy combustion demands

Marine engines often operate for long hours, at variable loads, in low-speed manoeuvring, harbour operation and auxiliary power cycles. These conditions can create smoke, soot, HC, CO and fuel-efficiency pressure.

Where O3 Protegelo fits

O3 Protegelo is installed externally on the low-pressure fuel feed line, normally after the main fuel filter. It requires no ECU modification, no additive tank and no exhaust-side installation.

  • Ferries and passenger vessels
  • Tugs and workboats
  • Crew transfer vessels and pilot boats
  • Auxiliary engines and marine generators
  • Older vessels where smoke and fuel consumption are concerns

Marine value is operational. Cleaner combustion can support lower smoke, reduced soot formation, improved fuel utilisation and cleaner exhaust conditions.

Why this matters for operators

Ports, charterers and vessel owners increasingly focus on visible emissions, fuel consumption and aftertreatment reliability. Reducing combustion by-products at source can help improve the operating profile of existing vessels without major engine modification.

Testing approach

The best marine evaluation compares the same engine before and after installation under similar load, fuel and operating conditions. Useful measurements include opacity, HC, CO, NOx, O₂, CO₂ and fuel consumption where possible.

FAQ

Can the device be used on larger engines?

Yes. Larger applications can use O3 PRO and O3 PRO DUO units in parallel according to fuel flow and engine configuration.

Does it work with marine diesel fuels?

It is designed for diesel, gasoline, HVO, biodiesel blends and other liquid fuels. It is not positioned for HFO applications.
