Cleaner Combustion Technology
O3 Protegelo is a passive fuel-line technology that improves combustion in diesel, gasoline and other liquid-fuel engines — with no additives, no electronics and no ECU modification.
Proof & Results
O3 Protegelo has been deployed across thousands of installations in transport, marine, port, industrial and ground-support applications. Results are drawn from over 250 emissions tests across multiple engine types and sectors.
Typical observed improvements
| Parameter | Typical observed range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Smoke / Opacity | Up to 70–90%+ reduction in suitable applications | Most consistently seen in older engines, high-idle, low-load operation and applications with visible smoke. |
| HC — Hydrocarbons | Up to 60% reduction | Higher reductions observed in selected tests. Lower HC indicates less unburned fuel and can help reduce fouling in EGR, intake and exhaust systems. |
| CO — Carbon Monoxide | Up to 50% reduction | Varies by engine condition and test point. CO is a key indicator of incomplete combustion and usually improves together with smoke, soot and HC. |
| Particulate / Soot | Clear reduction in suitable applications | Less soot formation can reduce DPF loading, extend regeneration intervals and reduce exhaust-system fouling. |
| Fuel Consumption | Engine and duty-cycle dependent | Improved combustion can improve fuel utilisation, but savings vary by engine type, fuel quality, load profile and measurement method. |
| NOx | Up to 35% reduction in suitable applications | Engine dependent. NOx response depends on engine design, calibration, combustion temperature, aftertreatment system and operating conditions. Should be measured case by case. |
Ranges are drawn from emissions test data across multiple engine types, fuels and duty cycles. Results vary according to engine condition, baseline emissions, maintenance status and installation configuration. Full test data available on request.
Solutions by Problem
Operators usually search for a specific problem: smoke, DPF regeneration, HC condensation, EGR fouling, fuel waste or poor gasoline response. These dedicated pages explain each issue clearly and connect it to the relevant O3 Protegelo application.

Gasoline Performance Applications
O3 Protegelo is not limited to diesel fleets. In gasoline engines, improved combustion can contribute to sharper response, smoother acceleration and better torque feel — making it relevant for tuned road cars, track cars and high-performance motorcycles.
Operator Benefits
Most diesel engine problems — DPF clogging, EGR fouling, visible smoke, rising fuel costs — share a common root: incomplete combustion. O3 Protegelo addresses this at source, before exhaust gases form.
Many DPF and EGR issues originate from incomplete combustion, which produces soot and unburned hydrocarbons that form deposits throughout the intake and exhaust systems. By reducing these combustion by-products at source, O3 Protegelo helps slow deposit build-up, extend DPF regeneration intervals and maintain EGR performance.
More complete combustion produces less visible smoke and soot. The most consistently observed result across sectors — particularly in older engines, low-load operation and high-idle applications.
Unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide are direct indicators of incomplete combustion. Reducing them at source also reduces the condensation-related deposits that accumulate in EGR valves, coolers and intake manifolds.
More complete combustion allows the engine to extract more energy from the fuel already supplied. Savings depend on engine condition, duty cycle and measurement method.
External installation on the low-pressure fuel feed line. No additive tank, electrical connection, ECU modification or exhaust-side work required.
Gasoline Engines
O3 Protegelo is not an ECU remap, fuel additive or tuning device. It is a passive fuel-line technology that improves the way gasoline oxidises during combustion — without adding fuel, increasing boost pressure or changing the engine calibration.
As the fuel passes through the catalytic core, active ferric-oxide particles are generated in the fuel stream. These particles support faster and more complete oxidation during combustion, helping the engine extract more useful energy from the same fuel.
The benefit is usually experienced as improved drivability: sharper throttle response, smoother acceleration and stronger low- and mid-range torque feel, depending on the engine, fuel quality and operating conditions.
More complete combustion can help the engine respond more cleanly when the accelerator is pressed.
Useful torque may build more easily in normal driving, especially during acceleration from lower RPM.
More stable combustion can reduce hesitation and vibration, giving a more refined driving feel.
Reducing unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide helps the exhaust system work under cleaner conditions.
Important: O3 Protegelo does not mechanically increase engine size, turbo boost or injection quantity. In some applications, dynamometer testing may show improved torque or power delivery across parts of the RPM range, but results depend on engine design, ECU calibration, fuel quality, vehicle condition and test method.
FAQ
No. O3 Protegelo does not use fuel additives or a dosing system. The ferric-oxide particles are generated directly within the fuel stream by the device itself.
No. It has no electronic connection and does not require software or engine calibration changes of any kind.
Yes, subject to correct sizing, fuel-flow assessment and installation layout.
The cartridge service life is approximately 2.5 years from first fuel contact, after which it should be replaced.
Yes. It is designed for diesel, gasoline and other liquid fuels, including HVO and biodiesel blends.
No. Results depend on fuel, engine condition, duty cycle, baseline emissions and maintenance status. Independent testing before and after installation is the recommended approach.
How it works
Fuel passes through O3 Protegelo before entering the engine. During fuel flow through the device, very small ferric-oxide particles are generated within the fuel stream.
Ferric oxide is a known combustion-promoting material. O3 Protegelo differs from additive-based approaches because the device generates the particles directly in the fuel, without requiring a chemical additive or dosing system.
Installation
Installation location depends on the engine, fuel-line layout, available access and service space. For most applications, the feed fuel line after the main filter is preferred.

Why the name?
The name refers to protecting the environment from ground-level ozone, which can be formed by reactions between nitrogen oxides (NOx) and unburned hydrocarbons (HC) in polluted air. O3 Protegelo works at source — improving combustion quality and reducing incomplete combustion products before they leave the engine.
